An ArtCan Exhibition sponsored by Suna Interior Design
25th – 31st October 2024
‘Downstairs at The Department Store’ – 248 Ferndale Road, Brixton, SW9 8FR
Curators: Rebecca Tucker, Lee Eveson and Jill Desborough
Strands…
· different parts of an idea, a plan, a story, etc
· an element that forms part of a complex whole.
70 artists, working across a variety of media within their own practice.
Many artists work in more than one medium, and this exhibition has been conceived as an unusual opportunity to show these differing strands of their creative practice in one space.
Painting, sculpture, textiles, drawing, photography, ceramics, printmaking, book art and installations will all be on show in this multi-disciplinary exhibition.
The Curators
Lee Eveson has been working as both an artist and educator for the past twenty years. He has had numerous different solo exhibitions and group shows across the UK, appeared on Landscape Artist of the Year (2022) and been a finalist for painting In Visual Arts Open 2020. His practice is painting based and he is strongly influenced by colour, graffiti and street art.
Jill Desborough has worked as a freelance commercial sculptor in diverse fields including film, theatre, museums and fine art fabrication for artists, since completing a BA degree in 3D Design.
She has always continued her own practice and exhibited extensively including RA Summer Show, RWA Annuals, Society Women Artists and ING Discerning Eye. She makes sculpture, puppets, and drawings that draw on mythology, folklore and history to explore mortality, diversity, and our relationships with the natural world.
Rebecca Tucker, b. 1973, lives in Greater London and owns an Interior Design company in Wimbledon. She is a Lancashire born/London based painter, with a BA in Fine Art and History of Art from Reading University 1996, and is an alumni of the Off Site Programme with the Turps Art School.
