Léa Layeux

Born in the highlands of the Vercors in France, Léa Layeux, alias Oxaléa, learned about life in the forest: the fauna, the tree species, the plants, the mushrooms. Following a training in technical laboratory sciences, she marvelled at plant biology. Nourished by the opportunity to live in the small protected village of La Giettaz en Aravis, on the edge of the Val d’Arly.

Inspired by the arrangement of foliage, grasses or lichens, Oxaléa composes paintings from the plants she collects with respect. The subject is teasing, sometimes indirect and subtle, but it deals with our relationship with nature.
