Candice Wu

Candice Wu is a glass blower, designer and photographer based in West Sussex, UK. She graduated with a B.Design (Visual Communications) from UTS Australia, after which she worked in the photographic industry. In 2010, she did a taster course in glass blowing and instantly fell in love with this mesmerising medium. For her, glassblowing is the perfect confluence of art and science, as well as a meditative practice that touches on the divine. Each blown work embodies her emotions and state of mind in that present moment, frozen in time.

Whether through experimentation or learning about the world at large, curiosity and a thirst for knowledge is the basis of Candice’s art practice. She explores transpersonal relationships, perception and illusion through patterns, transparency, hidden meanings, and the play of light and shadow. A penchant for lamps and lighting is the impetus behind her preoccupation of creating illuminated sculptures.
