Touchpoint: Borders & Boundaries’ exhibition is to take place in The Curators’ LAB Gallery in Poznań, Poland from the 1 to 24 June 2017.
Curated by Tomasz Jurek, a ArtCan artist and Katarzyna Kucharska ‘Touchpoint’ is an exhibition of international contemporary artists who are keenly feeling that with the current uncertainty across the world there is a need for expression through art and maintaining visual conversations.
Barriers generally are not protected, as they are natural constraints. Borders require conscious designation and defense. ‘Touchpoint’ is addressing the problem of establishing borders that are constantly being rebuilt, overthrown, and displaced. It is not only about borders in terms of geography, but the disclosure of certain contemporary socio-cultural processes or finding one’s own identity. Space, objects or people can gain meaning far beyond their assigned functions. Relationships are blurred. The distance with the other person is reduced to the minimum.
Touchpoint: Borders & Boundaries is a ArtCan exhibition in collaboration with The Municipal Galleries of the University of the Arts in Poznań (UAP), Rarytas Foundation and the City of Poznań.
ArtCan is a non-profit organisation that supports contemporary artists by exhibiting their works in vibrant and exciting locations. Through its programme, ArtCan promotes fair payment of artists: when you purchase a piece at a ArtCan event, you deal directly with the artist and they receive 100% of the profit. ArtCan’s ongoing objective is to create, promote, maintain and improve opportunities for contemporary artists without compromise to their artistic exploration and development. ArtCan also functions on a membership basis that is open to all fine artists and creative practitioners. They are encouraged to support and engage with one another, and communicate and exchange ideas and contacts. With 76 international members currently participating and no cap on capacity, the organisation actively welcomes applications.
