Thread-based crafts are at the core of Melanie Jordan’s textile and sculptural artwork, along with natural dyes and repurposed fabrics and yarns. She frequently explores themes around ambivalence in motherhood; influenced by her personal circumstances of being a mother of a dependent adult. She worked as a primary teacher before going back to study Fine Art at The University for the Creative Arts, in Canterbury, Kent. She has exhibited both in England, and internationally, most notably in Berlin, Vienna, and Stockholm. Melanie lives and works in rural Kent in southern England.
